What’s happening?
Work is happening in Dudley to improve the town centre. During these works, the way you travel around the region will be different.
These works will happen in stages to minimise disruption, and will include:
- The Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro extension, which will see the first phase delivered to Dudley in autumn 2025.
- A new transport hub
- Redevelopment of the Portersfield area of Dudley town centre
- Road improvements
Castle Hill, Dudley
There will be a closure on Castle Hill from the junction of Castle Gate Island to the junction of Castle Street towards Dudley town centre from Monday 17 February until Sunday 23 March for planned works.
Left turn from Trindle Road to Castle Hill will also be prohibited. No access to the town centre via Trindle Road.
All vehicles towards Dudley town centre (Westbound) will be diverted via Tipton Road, Birmingham New Road, Priory Road and The Broadway.
Off peak lane closures on Duncan Edwards Way will be suspended from 16 February. Dudley town centre can be accessed via Flood Street and New Mill Street.
The following bus services towards the temporary interchange will be on a diversion:
National Express West Midlands (Black Country): Services 7, 11, 11A, 12, 12A, 19, 74, 87, 126 and X8.
Diamond: Services 14, 14A, 25, 215 and 229.
