How to travel to Edgbaston Cricket Ground

Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Edgbaston Road, Birmingham, B5 7QU

Home to Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Birmingham Phoenix Hundred and The Bears T20. It's also a venue for major international matches including England test matches.

Edgbaston Cricket Ground is south of the City Centre. During major events, Edgbaston Road is closed to traffic between Pershore Road and Russell Road. This is to allow the safe arrival and departure of spectators.

Plan ahead and allow more time for your journeys

Check timetables and plan your route before you travel. This will give you plenty of time before the match starts.

Try to travel by public transport to avoid any matchday traffic. Edgbaston and the surrounding area can get busy.

The stadium is well connected by public transport

By Bus

National Express buses 45 and 47 serve Pershore Road, which is a short walk from the stadium. Buses 1, 61, 63 and 35 also stop near the ground.

The 504 shuttle bus service will be running to and from the stadium and city centre before and after the game. Tickets are available to purchase in advance from the mTicket app or from staff on the bus. Cash and card payments will be accepted.

By Shuttle Bus

A shuttle bus service from National Express is available from New Street Station to Edgbaston Stadium on all Major Matches and selected Vitality Blast match days.

The 501 Shuttle Bus pick-up point is located from right outside New Street Station on Smallbrook Queensway. The service is convenient for users of both New Street and Moor Street Train Stations.

By Train

Birmingham New Street is the main rail hub for the city, with services from all over the West Midlands and further afield.

University station is the closest to the cricket ground about 30 minutes walking distance away. The station is on the Cross City Line serving Redditch and Bromsgrove in the south to Lichfield Trent Valley in the north.

By Park and Ride

Consider Cycling and Walking

If you are local to the area, this is a great way to get to the venue and beat the traffic on the way back. The A38 blue cycle route is easy to bike between Selly Oak and the city centre.

The West Midlands Cycle Hire scheme is now live in Birmingham with bike docks located in the city centre and a short walk from the stadium. Visit West Midlands Cycle Hire (wmcyclehire.co.uk) There are also a limited number of cycle racks at the stadium for private bike users.

Driving

Parking restrictions will be in place on streets around the stadium. There are a limited number of official car parks and we recommend booking spaces in advance.

Blue badge holders can book limited spaces in the stadium car park by calling 0121 446 3505. These spaces are sold on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Clean Air Zone in Birmingham city centre is now operational. If you drive through the Clean Air Zone area in a car or van, you could be charged £8 per day if your vehicle does not meet certain emissions standards.
