The Mass Transit Accelerator

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) recognise the power of innovation in helping to solve our regional transport challenges. We also know that success can only be achieved by working with committed partners who are willing to constantly push for better regional outcomes.

That is why we are introducing the Mass Transit Accelerator. This programme offers the opportunity to work alongside TfWM to inspire a step change in how transport is delivered and used by local residents. The Mass Transit Accelerator is open to UK-based businesses. 

TfWM want to harvest the best and brightest ideas on how to improve our local transport ecosystem. For this initiative we are focused solely on solutions which have potential to improve the outcomes and financial sustainability of our mass transit public transport system. This includes everything from trains to buses, and anything else that moves lots of people at the same time.

To develop the most promising ideas we will be offering three successful candidates £15,000. The three successful applicants can bid for a further £50,000 to enable the development of one of the successful ideas to a more advanced stage.

The closing date for expressions of interest was Friday 10 November 2023. We will contact applicants with further information on the process and next steps. Sign up to our Innovative Transport Working Group to hear about similar opportunities in future.
