Rail Projects
We're making significant investments in improving the region's rail network. Creating better links between our communities is key to boosting the region's economy, providing more opportunities to local people for jobs, education and leisure.
Back in 2022, we gave Perry Barr Station a major facelift. It's now a modern, community-friendly spot, and played a major role during the Commonwealth Games. Last year, we unveiled the new state-of-the-art buildings at University Station, making it easier to get to the University of Birmingham and Queen Elizabeth and Birmingham Women’s hospitals.
We're also bringing you:
- Three new stations in south Birmingham to bring passenger services back to the Camp Hill Line: Moseley Village, Kings Heath, and Pineapple Road
- Two more stations on the Walsall Line: Willenhall and Darlaston
Plans are also underway to design and build a new station in Aldridge.
Our projects aim to reduce journey times, improve the passenger experience and ease congestion on the roads. This is all part of our Local Transport Plan and the Rail Investment Strategy from the West Midlands Rail Executive. We're teaming up with partners all over the region to make it happen.
